La Palma Princess: Review

La Palma Princess is located on the southern part of La Palma and the resort is surrounded by rocks, the ocean and nature. We spent a week on La Palma Princess og here is a full review of the facilities, the food and if it was worth the money.

Location

La Palma Princess is located on the canarian island La Palma.
The resort is located 30 km from the airport and because of the islands rocky landscape it takes about 40 min to drive from the airport to the resort.
The resort lies deserted surrounded by rocks, the ocean and banana plantations. The nearest city is Fuencaliente, og it is located 10 km from the resort.
Therefore you do not choose this resort if you enjoy the city life, going to restaurants and go shopping. It is possible to go on day trips from the resort to see the islands attractions, but if you have children who do not like to drive, the best option is to stay at the resort and enjoy the facilities!

The food

The best thing about the resort was the food!
La Palma Princess is an all inclusive hotel, and the hotel offers (depending the season) three buffet restaurants, two a-la-carte restaurants and a pool bar.
In the adults only area there there is an additional a-la-carte restaurant and a pool bar.
We visited La Palma Princess at the end of january, and the only things open was there buffet Food Market, the pool bar and the snack bar.
We were a bit sad only one of the restaurants were open, BUT the buffet was very big and the food was incredible, so we did not miss the other options.

The breakfast buffet was big, and the quality was good. At breakfast a lot of the same things were served everyday, but it is also harder to have a big variation in the breakfast department, and we were satisfied with the selection.

The lunch buffet consisted of cold and warm dishes and there were often leftovers from the dinner buffet the day before, which we loved!

The dinner buffet was the biggest of the three buffets and it was definitely the “star of the show”. The selection was huge, the food was fresh and warm and there were a good mix of warm and cold dishes, salads, kid friendly meals and desserts.
There were also theme nights some of the days e.g. mexican food, spanish food, asien food and so on. We were very excited to go to the buffet every night and se the selection. We could easily have stayed another week just for the food.

The only down side was the opening hours. We travelled with our 6 month old baby and unfortunately the dinner buffet was the same time as her usual bedtime, so our dinners were often a bit stressfull and we tried to hurry eating so she could get in bed.
There were also a lot of people and a lot of noise in the restaurant which did not help when you have a tired and overstimulated baby.

Openening hours:

Food Market:
Breakfast: 7.30-10
Lunch: 13.00-15.00
Dinner: 19.00-21.30 (winter) or 19.00-22.00 (summer)

Snack bar: 12.00-18.00

Pool bar: 10.00-18.00

Facilities and activites

The hotel was big, clean and nice. There were good paths between the rooms, the restaurants and the pools. La Palma has a rocky landscape so you have to expect a lot of hills and as the resort is very big it can be a bit of a walk from the pool to the room if you forget something.
The hotel is also surrounded by a nice pathway so you can go on a walk and enjoy the beautilful views of the cliffs and the sea.

The rooms were clean and they had a good size. There was enough space for a crib and space for playing on the floor.
The rooms were also quiet and we did not experience any noise from the activities going on at night.

La Palma Princess has many big pools with nice surroundings. We visited the resort in january where some of the pools are heated. However we thought the water was still to cold for bathing, especially for a 6 months old.

La Palma Princess offers a fitness center, a spa and a play area.
The fitness center had a decent size og it was very clean. They have a lot of different maschines and multiple of each so we did not have to wait for it to be free or feel crowded.
The play area felt a bit more worn down than the rest of the resort. It was however still a good place for kids to play and they had a lot of different toys and activities for the kids.
We did not get to experience the spa center as kids were not allowed.

Besides the big selection of facilities they also have a lot of activities. They offer pilates, yoga, water aerobic, volleyball, tennis, magic shows, etc.

Overall review

La Palma Princess is a really nice resort if your ideal vacation consists of eating good food, being active and staying put at the resort.
If you want to go explore the Island, I don’t think it’s the most ideal spot as it lays a bit secluded.

It is ideal for families but the kids do need to have a certain age to really enjoy and appreciate the facilities and activities. If you are travelling with a baby, I would find another hotel as it is a bit difficult to enjoy the activities with a baby unless you and your partner wants to split up.
Active couples and elders would enjoy the resort as well as long as they don’t have walking disabilities.

It is a bit expensive to stay at La Palma princess, but if use the facilities, participate in the activities and enjoy good food I think it’s worth the money!
